Hi there 👋. Dustin Haisler taking over for Joe Morris this month to wish you all a Happy New Year!

I have a couple exciting updates to share and can guarantee this: 2024 will be a big year for gov tech. Ready? Let’s get started.

🥁 Introducing the 2024 GovTech 100!

Our 2024 GovTech 100 was recently released, and you’ll want to know who is on the list. (Congrats to those of you subscribed who are a part of our GovTech 100!)

What it is:
The GovTech 100 is an exclusive list of the top 100 tech companies that sell to state and local governments as their primary customers (a.k.a., companies that are doing amazing work to make government better).
  • This is our ninth annual GovTech 100, highlighting the explosive growth of the gov tech market and the leaders driving public-sector innovation.
  • The list is editorial-driven and shaped by a variety of key market experts, government employees, investors and the Government Technology editorial team. (No pay-to-play list inclusion here!)
We’re witnessing a remarkable surge in innovation across the entire gov tech sector driven by new startups, partnerships and strategic mergers. The industry's resilience and growth prove the critical nature of technology’s role in solving the most complex government challenges.

By the Numbers: The GovTech 100 companies for 2024 collectively:
Raised over $5.3 billion in funding
Attracted a total of 575 unique investors
Went through 294 rounds of funding (in total)
Are mostly privately held – but 6% are publicly traded!

Check out the incredible companies on this year’s list and read the January feature of the list on Government Technology. You can also listen to our editorial team breaking down what they saw in this year’s GovTech 100 through a feature episode in The Future In Context podcast.

Coming Soon: Center for Public Sector AI

Keep an eye out for our newest center launching Q1 2024: The Center for Public Sector AI.

This radical new center will help usher in the next phase of technology — artificial intelligence — building on the rapid rise of generative AI. Over the coming year, it will be the home of all things AI, from research, webinars, events, industry perspectives, and much more.

I am excited to share more with you all in the coming weeks.
